Our Story

Co-Founder Mike Sullivan was a Research Associate at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) in Alexandria, VA, where he performed research and technical analysis in support of the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Intelligence Community. It was there that he developed a deep understanding of the power of on-line video targeting technologies. Soon thereafter, a partnership developed with Co-Founder Bobby Impollonia, and the two engineers decided to bring the new and unique technology to the world of advertising. Now based in San Francisco, Affine works with large brands and agencies in the online and mobile video sectors. The company is funded by Highland Capital Partners and Crosslink Capital, has multiple patents pending, a rapidly expanding customer base, and tons of momentum. The Affine mission: To be the currency for online video.

Michael Mathieu

Chairman & CEO

Michael is an digital media veteran with a proven track record of success building companies from the ground up. He was previously CEO of YuMe where he built the company from an early stage start-up to a leading video ad technology company. Prior to YuMe, Mr. Mathieu was the President of Freedom Communications’ Internet Division and a senior executive at United Online. Michael has spoken at many industry events and has been featured in numerous publications as an expert in the advertising industry.

Mike Sullivan

CTO & Co-Founder

Michael Sullivan holds an MS in Applied Mathematics and a BA in Computer Science from Harvard University. He is an expert in natural language processing, machine learning, computer vision and applied cryptography. Previously, Mike was a Research Associate at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) in Alexandria, VA, where he performed research and technical analysis in support of the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Intelligence Community.

Bobby Impollonia

Chief Engineer & Co-Founder

Bobby Impollonia holds an MS and BA in Computer Science, from Harvard University. As a graduate student, he studied artificial intelligence (including machine learning, machine vision and natural language processing) and computer graphics. Prior to founding Affine he was a software engineer at Microsoft and consultant for Goldman Sachs.

Matt Tillman

VP Product

As head of product, Matt is responsible for the product roadmap, marketing and meeting with customers regularly to ensure their success. Prior to Affine, Matt held management positions at Calyon Financial and other successful startups such as Adchemy and Starbelly.com.

Jonathan Dodson

VP Engineering

Jonathan brings more than 12 years of experience in engineering leadership. Prior to Affine, Dodson managed technical strategy and execution for Certain Software in the roles of CIO and CTO. Jon has been featured in CIO Magazine, presented at numerous industry events, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Reed College in Portland, Oregon.
